Join me to celebrate our beautiful and amazing Mother Earth on this Tuesday, April 22! I plan to enjoy an afternoon walk at Carolyn Holmberg Preserve. This lovely spot has a resident pair of Bald Eagles that have been actively rebuilding their nest! Last year, tragedy struck and the eagles nest was destroyed when the tree it was in was struck by lightning! Somehow, the eagles survived, even after one of the adults was also struck in the incident. This resilient pair has found a new nest tree at the preserve! I hope to observe them, along with all the other wonderful nature, including prairie dogs, coyotes, a wide variety of birds, and more! I wanted to showcase this location for Earth Day, since its existence is about resilience, conservation, and perseverance. Much like the eagles that experience tragedy but came back to rebuild.
We’ll plan on a late afternoon walk and enjoy Golden Hour and sunset. I am also planning on doing a couple Earth Day focused activities. Feel free to bring snacks/picnic items if you want to enjoy a sunset picnic. Weather permitting, I may send a message to cancel up to 2 days before the event if inclement weather is forecasted.
